Naturalipo® Tumescent Liposuction

Naturalipo® is a laser assisted medical treatment for liposuction and the tumescent liposuction technique involves removal of localized deposits of fat in a very safe manner. It is a minimally invasive procedure as it uses tumescent anesthetic and small microcannulae that cause less pain. The surgery involves injection of large quantity of diluted local anesthetic solution under the patient’s skin to make the tissue firm.

After the area to be treated is numbed by injecting local anesthesia, a series of small incisions are made. Then large amount of local anesthetic solution is injected into these incisions followed by insertion of a small cannula which holds the tumescent liposuction laser into the skin. The cannula is moved in a back and forth motion allowing the laser energy to break down fat cells. A long, hollow tube or cannula is used to suction out the loosened fat cells.

Tumescent Liposuction laser energy also achieves tightening of your skin as it reacts with skin and causes collagen to shrink. As laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate leading to minimal bleeding and swelling, a shorter recovery period can be expected. Tumescent liposuction is associated with certain adverse effects such as burning or prickling sensation in the area of treatment for 1 month following the procedure. The adverse effects are mild and may not often require treatment. Tissues below the area of treatment may swell and the swelling remain for 6-8 weeks which can be reduced by wearing compression garments. Your surgeon will prescribe oral pain relieving medications following the surgery.

As with any surgical procedure, there are certain risks and complications associated with tumescent liposuction which include:

  • Formation of blood clot
  • Excessive fluid or blood accumulation
  • Infection
  • Superficial nerve damage
  • Loss of sensation
  • Shock
  • Perforation (in rare cases)
